It isn’t the same. I was living in Houston. I just came back home and everything just look different from the time when I was here before. It’s not the hood like how it used to be back then. Everything has changed. You can see it’s more of a mixture. You see a lot of white people now. You didn’t used see a lot of white people back then. Back then it used to be worse than this. With help from the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin and the government of the State of Michoacán, each parent received a tourist visa, which will allow them to travel to the U.S. for six months at a time. Martin Luther King Day March and Festival by Montinique Monroe

The Austin community celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 15, 2018. The annual gathering began with speeches at the MLK statute on the University of Texas campus followed by a march from the Capitol to Hutson-Tillotson University for a festival and food drive. This year marks 50 years since King’s assassination.
